The idea for KURA ONE® came from "small bottles." At business meetings with overseas buyers and in conversations with consumers, the 720 ml size was a topic of conversation. We were also keenly aware of the issue of total weight based on our experience of airfreighting small-lot delivery of sake bottles to 50 countries around the world. Our first challenge to reduce weight was... small-lot air delivery of 720 ml to overseas markets, which we started delivery demonstration in 2019. The revolutionary idea of being able to deliver small quantities of bottles worldwide was a surprising service that overturned the common wisdom of delivery. Despite the surprise, a challenge became clear. The first challenge was the weight of the 720 ml bottle. The first challenge to reduce the weight was small bottles. KURA ONE® was born from our experience of delivering sake by air in small lots to 50 countries around the world, where we realized that a 720 ml bottle of sake weighs 1.2 kg - 1.5 kg, or 40-50% of the total weight of the bottle. In order to showcase the wide range of sake, we needed to reduce the volume to a size that would allow people to compare sake in one sitting. Through our experience at overseas business meetings and tasting events, we have studied how to handle languages other than Japanese and how to deliver the story of sake. In this interview with Sake On Air, KURA ONE® owner Mr. Sawada tells the secret story of KURA ONE®, which was born from the accumulation of various knowledge. What is Sake On Air?
