Sake is now attracting attention not only in Japan but around the world. Sake is now the focus of attention not only in Japan, but around the world as well. The International Wine Challenge (IWC) is considered the most prestigious of these judging competitions. IWC, established in 1984, is one of the world's most prestigious blind tasting competitions. The judges, who are invited from all over the world, are led by experts with the title of "Master of Wine," the most prestigious title in the wine industry, with only 418 judges in its less than 70-year history. The quality of the judges and the impartiality of the judging process are highly regarded internationally, and they are called the highest authority in the industry.

In 2007, the SAKE category was established and has grown in value as the largest and most influential sake judging event held outside of Japan. After four days of blind tasting, Gold, Silver, and Bronze awards will be determined. Trophy winners are selected from among the Gold winners, and the title of "Champion Sake," the highest award in the SAKE category, is given to the trophy-winning sakes. This set includes the sake that won the top prize at the IWC.
