Why should you take it?

The luxurious sake with clean body

Brewery

Sendai Isawake Katsuyama Shuzo

Sendai Isawake Katsuyama Shuzo, in Sendai City, Miyagi Prefecture in the Tohoku region, is a long-established sake brewery with a history of over 320 years. Founded in Sendai, the castle town of the Date family, whose feudal lord was the warlord Date Masamune, the brewery continues to represent the local area as the only existing brewery of the Date family in the prefecture and a leading local sake brewer.

The brewery specializes only in junmai sake and brews only one tank of sake per week. This allows for slow fermentation of the unrefined sake, which results in a sake with a rich body. The centrifugal separator used for some of our sake has also been tuned up and improved in a unique way to extract the highly pure essence of the sake, resulting in a full and clear sake. We also take the utmost care to preserve the quality of our sake, including early bottle firing to maintain the freshness of the sake and ice storage at minus 5 degrees Celsius.

In 2019, the brewery achieved the feat of winning the highest award in the SAKE category of the International Wine Challenge, the world's most prestigious wine competition, and the Kura Master, a French sake competition.
